Isolation and Levelling in One Component

Industrial floors are rarely flat. A lathe, press or CNC machine set down on an uneven slab will rock, load its feet unequally and, in the case of precision equipment, lose geometric accuracy. The conventional fix is packing shims under the short feet, which is slow, hard to adjust later and does nothing about vibration. A levelling machine mount solves both problems in one part.

The construction is straightforward: a natural rubber pad bonded to a steel body, with a threaded stud that screws into the machine base or through the existing foot hole. Turning the stud raises or lowers that corner, so the machine can be levelled precisely with a spirit level and then locked off. Once set, the rubber element continues to isolate vibration and damp the shock loading from presses, punches and interrupted cuts.

The BFM series covers nine sizes from BFM 100 at 50 to 100kg through to BFM 2000 rated for 1,600 to 2,000kg per mount, meaning four mounts will support machinery approaching eight tonnes. Levelling adjustment runs from 50mm to 80mm depending on size, which is far more than shimming realistically allows. BFM 100 is the exception, supplied as a fixed-height mount without adjustment.

Because the mount is not bolted to the floor, the machine can be repositioned during a plant reconfiguration without breaking out anchor bolts. That flexibility, combined with the hygienic wipe-clean profile, is why the range is widely used in food processing and pharmaceutical facilities across the UAE as well as in general engineering workshops.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between a machine mount and an anti-vibration pad?

A pad sits loose under the machine foot and only isolates vibration. A levelling machine mount does that too, but adds a threaded stud that screws into the machine base so you can raise or lower each corner and level the machine precisely. Use a pad when the floor is flat and you only need isolation. Use a machine mount when the floor is uneven, when the machine must be set level for accuracy, or when you want to be able to re-level it later without lifting it.

How much levelling adjustment do these mounts give?

Between 50mm and 80mm depending on the size, which is considerably more than shim packing realistically allows and enough for most industrial slabs. The exception is BFM 100, the smallest size, which is supplied as a fixed height mount without adjustment. Check the adjustment column in the size chart against the height variation you have measured across the machine footprint.

Do machine mounts need to be bolted to the floor?

No. The mount sits on the floor under its own load and the machine weight holds it in place, which is a practical advantage when a plant layout changes because equipment can be moved without breaking out anchor bolts and making good the slab. For machines that generate large horizontal forces, such as heavy presses or equipment with a rapidly traversing bed, discuss the application with us first, as some installations still warrant anchoring.

Which size do I need for my machine?

Divide the machine weight by the number of feet, then select a size whose load capacity band comfortably contains that figure. Remember that weight is rarely distributed evenly: a lathe carries more at the headstock end, and a machine with a heavy spindle motor or coolant tank will load one corner more than the others. Are these mounts suitable for food and pharmaceutical facilities?

The profile wipes down easily and there is no floor anchor to trap water or product residue, which is why the range is widely used on food processing and pharmaceutical lines. Where the mount will be subject to regular caustic washdown, high-pressure cleaning or direct contact with fats and oils, ask us about alternative compounds and stainless steel components, as standard natural rubber and plated steel are not the best choice for those conditions.
